This style of fireplace log holders rose to popularity in the early 1950's with the urbanization of America after WWII and the more readily available metals such as iron, steel and brass. The majority of mid century homes built in that era had fireplaces and fireplace log holders like these were quite ubiquitous in households. However, around the 1970's, with the widespread use of central heating systems stands like these been seen and used as magazine racks or book stands next to a chair in the living room.

Metal is in good shape, Mesh has no breaks or bends. Bottom feet show some scuffing and wear appropriate with age. Brass handle has some patina. A few marks and scuffs to the coated metal, showing the silver underneath.
