Sale
Highly decorated early 20th/late 19th Century Malayer rug with allover covered field with floral palmettes and ornate latticework containing intricate Herati motifs and geometric patterns.
Weaving features wool on cotton foundation, very tightly woven with lots of intricate detailing in both the border and center field. Each motif has subtle abrash and wear, giving the run a dynamic depth and quality to the colors. The navy blue center field in this piece is exquisite and not often seen in a rug of this size and age. A nice example of early Malayer weaving with a balance of the almost drawling like floral patterns with more structured geometry of shapes interconnecting them.
