Antique Persian Qashqai Kilim Rug - circa 1900 / 8'6" x 5'3" / 264 x 164cm
This is a stunning handwoven Qashqai kilim rug circa 1900s. It features beautiful geometric scorpion motifs in the center ground and interlocking diamond patterns forming the boarders.
The colors are excellent from the rugs age, especially the blue hues with abrash. Looking up close, you can see how finely woven each strand of hands-spun wool is that forms the rug. This rug is called a slit kilim rug where each alternating color forms a new slit in the weaving pattern. Being a kilim it is also double sided, so you can use each side of the rug. Flipping it over every few months so each side gets even wear.
The larger size of this rug makes it perfect for a living or dining room.
Condition
The rug is over 100 years old and is in excellent condition for its age. It has beautifully worn colors and texture without any major rips or holes. It does have some signs of use/age with a few small areas of fringe loss on each end and some minor areas of wear throughout. There are a few small old repairs done as well. Expect minor separation and wear consistent with this beauty's age and use.
